At Kingpins Amsterdam, on 14th and 15th October, Gold Girl Co. and Officina39 unveil RENEGADE RENAISSANCE, an experimental collaboration exploring the relationship between material and meaning through two conceptual garments: Marble Dreams and Midnight Journey.
Conceived creatively by Marta and Glenda Goldschmied, founders of Gold Girl Co., the project asks how unconventional materials can move beyond their original purpose to express ideas of permanence, identity, ambition, and the paths we create through life. Officina39 acts as the project’s technical engine and creative enabler, translating the sisters’ vision into physical garments through chemistry, textile know-how, and material experimentation.
MARBLE DREAMS – What if fashion were made to endure?
Created using marble dust, Marble Dreams explores permanence, longevity and identity in a culture increasingly defined by disposability. Inspired by the enduring presence of classical sculpture, it transforms a material associated with strength and monumentality into something intimately connected to the body. The piece asks whether beauty can be separated from durability – and whether an object that survives trends can become an extension of the person who wears it. For Officina39, the experiment also points toward future, more scalable applications rooted in the same philosophy: making longevity a creative value as well as a technical and commercial one.
“Marble has always represented permanence, history and something built to outlast us,” says Marta Goldschmied, Co-Founder of Gold Girl Co. “We wanted to bring that idea into clothing and ask whetherfashion can create objects that stay with us long enough to become part of who we are. Longevity, for us, is not only about durability – it is about meaning.”
MIDNIGHT JOURNEY – Fortune is something you make
Inspired by the unpredictability of scratch-and-win cards, Midnight Journey explores chance, choice and the paths we create through life. Its abstract trajectory evokes the continuous thread between past and future, but rejects the idea that fortune simply happens to us. Ambition, dedication and perseverance become acts of authorship: uncertainty remains part of the journey, but the direction is ours to create. The idea resonated strongly with Officina39, where innovation is built through experimentation, persistence and the willingness to keep challenging established processes and markets.
“The starting point was the fantasy that one lucky moment can change everything,” says Glenda Goldschmied, Co-Founder of Gold Girl Co. “But the garment turns that idea around. The path matters more than the winning ticket: fortune is also something we construct through the choices we make, the work we put in, and our willingness to keep moving.”
The launch of the collaboration next week at Kingpins Amsterdam is also announced via a video presentation, available to watch here.
RENEGADE RENAISSANCE is deliberately not a conventional capsule collection. The two pieces operate as material propositions – part fashion object, part experiment, part manifesto. The creative direction belongs unmistakably to Marta and Glenda; Officina39’s role is to make their unconventional ideas materially possible, using chemistry not simply to achieve a finish, but as a creative instrument.
“The most exciting brief for us is not ‘show us what this chemistry can do’, but ‘this is the idea – can you helpus make it exist?” says Andrea Venier, Managing Director of Officina39. “Marta and Glenda brought a remarkably strong creative vision. Our job was to give that vision a material language. Marble dust, permanence, chance and ambition are not conventional briefs for a chemical company – and that is precisely why they interest us.”
