Picanol will introduce a new generation of airjet weaving machines at ITMA Asia + CITME 2026 in Shanghai from November 20–24th, extending its portfolio into the market for basic woven fabrics.
The new AirOne loom has been developed specifically for this segment and features a newly designed crank shedding motion, combining high productivity with low energy consumption, advanced digital capabilities and ease of operation.
The launch follows extensive market research, R&D and field testing, and represents an important expansion of Picanol’s airjet weaving portfolio. AirOne will complement the established OmniPlus-i Connect, providing mills producing basic fabrics with an alternative designed around their specific production requirements.
The machine incorporates a range of Picanol’s existing innovations and patented technologies, with particular emphasis on operational efficiency, sustainability and simplified machine control.
“AirOne represents a special launch for Picanol,” says Johan Verstraete, vice president of weaving machines at Picanol. “This new machine platform brings together all the strengths that define Picanol today, from high performance and low energy consumption to digital capabilities and ease of operation. At the same time, it empowers us to enter a new market segment.”
He adds that the company’s sales and service teams are looking forward to making Picanol technology accessible to a broader range of weaving mills.
At the Shanghai exhibition, Picanol will demonstrate three machines on its stand F01 in Hall 3. The new AirOne will be producing poplin fabric, alongside an OmniPlus-i Connect weaving ladieswear fabrics and a Supermax rapier weaving machine producing denim.
The company will also introduce further developments within PicConnect, its centralised digital platform for weaving operations. These will include new AI-powered applications designed to help mills optimise machine performance, improve efficiency and support production decision-making.
Picanol will have a further five Supermax machines operating on partner stands throughout the exhibition, demonstrating the versatility of the platform in applications including sari, footwear and label fabrics.
