Luis Silberwasser, chairman and CEO of TNT Sports, is departing the soon-to-be merged Paramount Skydance and Warner Bros. Discovery, according to people familiar with the matter.

Silberwasser informed his team of the news Monday in an e-mailed note, said the people, who asked not to be named because the communication was private.

"I am writing to let you know that, with the closing of the Paramount–WBD merger, I will be departing the company as TNT Sports and CBS Sports come together under new leadership," Silberwasser said in his note.

David Berson, president and chief executive officer of CBS Sports, will lead a newly formed global sports group that will oversee all networks, platforms and territories. The CBS Sports, TNT Sports and WBD Sports brands will roll up into the new group.

Sources familiar with the matter say Skydance is expected to make a formal announcement about Berson's move soon.

The combined company, which last week announced it will be named Skydance, will own a large swath of sports rights, including NFL Sunday afternoon games, all of March Madness, college football, NHL, NASCAR, the French Open, The Masters, and many others.

The Paramount Skydance and Warner Bros. Discovery merger is expected to close tomorrow, Oct. 6.
