UK-based InsurTech Konsileo raises €5.9 million to expand its team and integrate AI

Konsileo, a UK-based chartered insurance broker, has closed a €5.9 million (£5 million) equity round to support its continued growth.

The equity financing was led by long-term shareholders Committed Capital, together with ACF Investors. The round follows a €3.2 million (£2.7 million) raise in April 2018 and €9.4 million (£8 million) debt and equity financing in November 2024.

Steven Harris, CEO of Committed Capital, said, “We are delighted to have completed this round and to deepen our long-standing commitment to Konsileo. John, Peter and the team have built one of the fastest-growing independent brokers in the UK, and they have done it organically, broker by broker, rather than through acquisition.

“That growth rests on two things that are very hard to replicate: a proprietary broking platform that strips out administration, embeds compliance and is now putting AI to work for brokers, and a culture that consistently attracts the most talented people in the industry. Konsileo is showing what a modern commercial broker looks like, and we look forward to supporting the team through its next phase of growth.”

Founded in 2017 by John Warburton and Peter Henderson, Konsileo was born out of the shared experiences of its founders, who saw the sector as slow to modernise and overly bureaucratic. Warburton, with a career spanning senior roles at Aviva, Accenture and Allianz, has built Konsileo around what the company calls a “Teal” organisational model, replacing conventional management hierarchies with self-managed teams, coaching, and decentralised decision-making. Henderson, on the other hand, is a technologist who was at the helm of web digitisation in the 1990s, bringing platform-building expertise.

Konsileo now employs more than 220 people and arranges more than €100.5 million (£85 million) in annual insurance premiums for businesses across the UK, covering sectors from construction and healthcare to technology and professional services.

At the core of Konsileo’s offering is a proprietary, in-house broking platform that automates administrative tasks, embeds compliance checks, and helps brokers capture higher-quality risk information for clients. The firm also runs Riskube, a custom online insurance and risk management platform that enables clients to access and manage their policies directly.

Konsileo says the platform has one main goal: to free brokers from administrative tasks so they can focus on client relationships and professional advice. The model also avoids the growth-by-acquisition playbook, instead recruiting brokers one at a time and investing in their development through the Konsileo Academy.

Warburton, co-founder and CEO, Konsileo, said, “We’ve always believed that great brokers do their best work when you give them autonomy, equip them properly and support them rather than manage them. Our growth is a testament to what happens when you offer something genuinely different to ambitious brokers who want to build brilliant client relationships.”

Konsileo will use the funding to continue to attract experienced broking professionals, develop its technology platform further by integrating AI capabilities, and sustain the organic growth momentum the company has built since its inception.
