Billion Rise Knitting, a leading vertically integrated manufacturer of knitted fabrics for sportswear, activewear, swimwear and intimate apparel, has opened a new manufacturing facility in Thanh Hoa, Vietnam, as part of a US$100 million investment to expand its global production capabilities.
The new factory will complement the company’s established manufacturing operations in Qingyuan, China, providing international apparel brands with greater sourcing flexibility and access to advanced knitting, dyeing, printing and finishing technologies.
Developed in three phases, the Vietnam facility will eventually cover approximately 320,000 square metres and is expected to achieve an annual production capacity of up to 100 million metres of fabric.
The first phase, comprising approximately 110,000 square metres, has been completed. Additional knitting, dyeing and printing capacity will be introduced during the second phase, scheduled for completion in the third quarter of 2027, with the final phase expected to be completed in the third quarter of 2029.
“We’re pleased to give our customers greater sourcing flexibility with the addition of our Vietnam operation to our established manufacturing base in Qingyuan, China,” said Charles Chen, CEO and owner of Billion Rise.
“After a decade of investment in developing the facility and building it to the same high standards our customers expect from us, we’re confident Vietnam will deliver the quality, technical expertise and consistency our brand partners require.”
The new operation is being developed with manufacturing capabilities comparable to Billion Rise’s Chinese facility, including warp and weft knitting, dyeing, digital printing, flat-bed printing, heat-transfer printing, stentering and finishing.
The factory also incorporates an advanced wastewater treatment system and rooftop solar installations designed to reduce the environmental impact of production.
According to JP Brogan, US managing director of sales and marketing at Billion Rise, major American activewear and intimate apparel brands are increasingly looking to Vietnam as an alternative sourcing destination.
Vietnam has established a strong reputation for producing high-volume, technically complex performance fabrics, while its extensive garment manufacturing infrastructure offers opportunities to integrate fabric production and garment assembly within the same country.
“Our investment in Vietnam goes beyond the physical facility,” said Brogan. “We’ve also dedicated resources in materials strategy expertise across our global team along with AI and 3D visualisation tools that help brands identify white space, build key material franchises, and quickly visualise new opportunities.”
The expansion also creates opportunities for European apparel brands seeking to develop more integrated Asian supply chains. The EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement provides preferential trading arrangements for qualifying products, subject to applicable rules of origin and phased tariff reductions.
Steven Moore, global sales director at Billion Rise, said the new factory would strengthen the company’s ability to support customers seeking locally produced fabrics for garment manufacturing in Vietnam.
“With our new factory, we can now better support brands looking to build more integrated value chains in Vietnam while expanding our business across these important markets,” Moore said.
Billion Rise will present its expanded manufacturing capabilities and latest fabric developments at several international textile exhibitions during October, including Performance Days in Munich from 13–15 October, Interfilière Shanghai from 13–14 October, and Texfuture Tokyo/Performance Days Tokyo from 21–22 October.
The company is also scheduled to participate in the Vietnam Hanoi Textile & Garment Industry Expo from 21–22 October.
Established in 1999 and headquartered in Hong Kong, Billion Rise specialises in the development and manufacture of knitted textiles for performance apparel, swimwear, underwear and lingerie. The company operates sales offices in China, Singapore, the United States and the United Kingdom.
Its vertically integrated manufacturing model combines fabric development with knitting, dyeing, printing and finishing, enabling the company to support international brands from initial material development through to commercial production.
The addition of the Vietnam facility represents a significant expansion of Billion Rise’s manufacturing footprint, positioning the company to respond to growing demand for technical knitted fabrics and more geographically diversified textile supply chains.
