British textile innovator MAXXAM Textiles and East London-based garment manufacturer ApparelTASKER will return to Cannes later this month for Mare di Moda 2026, the international exhibition for swimwear, lingerie and athleisure fabrics, with an expanded collection of stretch textiles and garments for Summer 2027.
The event, taking place from 27-29 October, will provide a European showcase for the British partnership, which was formed at Mare di Moda just one year ago and has since developed new garment applications for MAXXAM’s distinctive crinkle-textured stretch fabric.
Created by textile designer Rosemary Moore in the early 1980s, MAXXAM is a seamless, four-way stretch textile with a three-dimensional crinkled surface that expands and contracts to accommodate different body shapes. The innovation is represented in the permanent collection of London’s Victoria and Albert Museum.

For Summer 2027, the companies will present new garment silhouettes and a vibrant colour palette featuring citrus orange, lime green and bright red, demonstrating the textile’s versatility in contemporary fashion applications.
The collaboration began when Moore met ApparelTASKER founder Zack Sartor at Mare di Moda in 2025. Their shared interest in textile innovation, responsible manufacturing and garment development has since evolved into an ongoing partnership.
“What started with a conversation between Zack and me has developed into something really creative, and we’re continuing to discover new possibilities for MAXXAM textiles through colour, shape and garment design,” said Moore.
“I’ve always believed that heritage and innovation should sit side by side. You can respect the history and qualities of a textile, but you also have to keep experimenting, developing and looking forward.”
Sustainability remains central to the partnership. MAXXAM continues to explore lower-waste manufacturing and more sustainable yarn developments, while ApparelTASKER employs zero-waste cutting techniques, fabric offcut reuse and transparent production practices.
The companies aim to demonstrate how established British textile expertise and contemporary garment manufacturing can combine to create innovative products for international fashion markets.
