Jindal Steel’s consolidated profit increased 21% year-on-year to Rs 771 crore in July-September, anchored by a 44% year-on-year surge in gross revenue to an all-time high of Rs 19,448 crore.

Both revenue and profit surpassed analysts’ estimates during the second quarter of this financial year. The company reported its earnings during market hours on Friday, and its shares closed at Rs 1,012.00 apiece on the BSE, down 1.7% from the previous close.

Consolidated steel production increased to 2.4 million tonnes during the quarter, up from 2 million tonnes a year ago, while sales rose to 2.38 million tonnes from 1.87 million tonnes.
