SANITIZED and RUDOLF join forces to extend textile performance and wearability

High-performance, durable functional textiles require innovative solutions that meet a wide range of consumer expectations, from lasting freshness and superior comfort to reliable protection against adverse weather conditions. SANITIZED and RUDOLF are introducing their latest innovations, demonstrating how specialized textile technologies can enhance the functional durability, comfort, and long-term wearability of modern apparel.

Addressing Consumer Expectations Through Textile Innovation

Consumers expect more from textiles than ever before. Functional apparel, outdoor clothing, and technical textiles must remain comfortable, functional, and reliable even after repeated wear and use. Freshness, weather protection, and long-lasting performance have become important factors influencing purchasing decisions and perceptions of product quality.

In response to these growing expectations, SANITIZED and RUDOLF continue to develop technologies that address the practical challenges faced by brands, manufacturers, and end consumers. Their latest innovations are designed to enhance the long-term functionality of textiles while improving comfort, protection, and overall wearability.

Long-Lasting Freshness for Functional Apparel

Functional clothing is repeatedly exposed to sweat, environmental conditions, daily wear, and frequent washing. Over time, these factors can compromise the perceived comfort and performance of garments, even when the textile remains physically intact.

One of the key challenges is persistent odor. Sebum and odor-causing residues can accumulate on textile fibers, resulting in unpleasant smells that may remain even after multiple washing cycles. This phenomenon, commonly known as “permastink,” can limit the continued use of otherwise functional garments.

SANITIZED addresses this challenge with Odorex™ EON, a biocide-free, dual-action technology designed to deliver lasting freshness. During wear, the technology adsorbs and neutralizes odor molecules, helping garments maintain a fresh feel. At the same time, Odorex™ EON creates a protective layer that facilitates the removal of sebum residues during washing, helping reduce the gradual accumulation of odor-causing deposits.

By addressing both immediate odors and the long-term buildup of odor-causing residues, Odorex™ EON expands the concept of textile durability. Beyond conventional physical properties such as tensile strength and abrasion resistance, functional durability also means ensuring that garments remain comfortable, wearable, and appealing throughout their useful life.

“Durability is often assessed through physical properties such as strength and abrasion resistance. However, a garment that remains technically intact has limited value if persistent odor issues prevent it from being worn,” explains Stefan Müller, Head of BU Textile Additives at SANITIZED AG. “With Odorex™ EON, we are expanding the discussion around durability to include an important factor that can significantly influence the long-term wearability of clothing.”

Designed for Lasting Performance Under Demanding Conditions

Reliable protection against moisture and adverse weather is another critical factor in extending the useful life of textiles. Complementing SANITIZED’s latest innovation, RUDOLF presents RUCO-DRY® ECO CWS, a high-performance water-repellent and waterproofing technology that can be marketed under the globally established BIONIC-FINISH® ECO brand.

The technology combines excellent water repellency with high hydrostatic pressure resistance, specifically for cotton fabrics. It helps textiles maintain their protective properties over time, even under demanding conditions.

RUCO-DRY® ECO CWS is designed for applications such as outdoor apparel and technical textiles, including tents, awnings, and umbrellas. The technology supports long-lasting weather protection while addressing the high-performance requirements of today’s consumers.

Together, the innovations from SANITIZED and RUDOLF demonstrate complementary approaches to extending textile performance and enhancing the long-term functionality, durability, and appeal of apparel and textile products.

“Technical textiles are judged by their actual performance under real-world conditions. Whether used in tents, outdoor equipment, or other demanding applications, materials must provide reliable protection against rain and moisture throughout their service life. With RUCO-DRY® ECO CWS, we offer a solution that combines durable water repellency with outstanding hydrostatic pressure resistance, helping manufacturers develop long-lasting, weather-resistant textiles,” says Luka Kovacevic, Global Head of Application Center Technical Textiles at RUDOLF.

Official Presentation at Performance Days Munich

Odorex™ EON will be officially introduced at Performance Days in Munich on October 13–14, 2026. Visitors can discover the new technology at the SANITIZED booth in Hall A6, Booth C05.
